Detox Your Beauty Bag

My make-up kit is a hodge-podge of products, brands, and colors. I'm a pretty organized person but you would NEVER guess that if you looked at my beauty bag. It's a total shit show.

We recently filmed a beauty segment for E! Canada with Ingrid Doucet from Clementine Fields on the pesky chemicals commonly found in beauty products, one of which are parabens

In simple terms, a paraben is a chemical used as a preservative. In the realm of your make-up bag, this means keeping your beauty products fresh and fighting off microbes to keep them clean.

Some studies have shown that parabens are endocrine-disrupters.

  • Endocrine-disrupters = mess with your hormones
  • Which hormones? Testosterone and Estrogen

If you mess with hormone levels, this can affect A LOT. People have thrown words like cancer, fertility issues and chronic diseases around.

It's important to note that some studies have shown this link; not all. Moreover, the studies that have shown this link cannot prove that parabens are the cause of these outcomes.

With all of that said, it's important to be aware of what you are putting in your body and on your skin.
