I caught myself day-dreaming about far away adventures all day, which makes this #WildeAbroad blog post a welcomed break from reality. Ready to see what castle games are all about at the Ashford Castle in Ireland?
#4 - Clay Shooting
Right before this photo was taken, Mark reminded me to NOT hold the trigger without the safety on while it's pointing at our feet... Oops.
My instructor was very, very patient with me; casually saying, "oh what an unlucky shot!" every time I missed the clay dish... which was 95% of the shots. Bless his heart.
#3 - Golf
Golf is huge in Ireland, there are courses sprawled across the country and the castle we were staying out had one right on the front lawn. Casual.
I offered very little points to my team during this challenge and I caused some damage to the grass when I attempted to hit the ball. Thankfully the boy was a rockstar and held down the fort for our team!
#2 - Archery
ARCHERY!! This was a first for me and such a fun experience, I channeled my inner Katniss Everdeen and wasn't half bad! I hit the target almost every time and didn't impale anyone. #Winning.
#1 - Welly Throwing
Last, but definitely not least... throwing rainboots! Or as the Irish like to call it, welly throwing. Aim for the targets for big points and throw your boot!
TRUTH: this was my favorite game of the day. Who knew throwing rainboots would be so exhilarating?
We tried, we played and we did (not) win. Now go get your friends, grab some rainboots and go play!
